- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 t baking powder
- 1/2 t salt
sift together.
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 t vanilla
- 1 1/2 oz unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
- 1/4 t baking soda
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Blend in dry ingredients. Separate the dough into 1/3 and 2/3.
Combine chocolate and baking soda. Blend chocolate mixture into 1/3 of dough. Chill.
Roll out half of light dough into a 10” x 4 1/2” strip. Shape half of dark dough into a 10” roll. Place on strip of light dough and mold sides around to make a tube. Wrap and chill for two hours. Repeat with rest of dough.
Slice dough into rounds. Place side by side to form owlÂ’s eyes. Pinch corners for ears. Place whole cashew for beak and chocolate chips for eyes.
Bake 350 ° until lightly golden.
